Behind my Eyes: Chapter 1 by ~Zoutou:iconZoutou:

"This is it, isn't it?" I sighed, staring at myself in the mirror of my bathroom. The reflection looking back at me was no longer that of Ai Ebisawa, but that of Aki Ebisawa. The name is just a one letter difference. Not a big change. But that's not what bothered me. It was having to cut off my long brunette hair to that of a shoulder-length blond haired boy. And instead of showing off a pair of emerald colored eyes to the world, I had to wear a pair of cerulean colored eye contacts. They helped in fact, because my vision has always been a little blurry, but I'd rather have my emerald eyes back.

This is all my father's fault.

He was the one who signed me up at an all boy's boarding school in the first place. I had to change my entire appearance just for it too. My hair, my eyes, my clothes, the way I walk, talk, and act. It's all so different having to act like a guy. Sure, I wasn't really one of those girly girls like some of my friends, but I wasn't really a tom boy either. I was just stuck in the gray area between the two. And now instead of being a tom boy, I'm a boy.

How fun...

The only thing that I think I will like about going to this school is the uniforms. The uniforms are really nice in my opinion. I've always been a pants person anyways. I never wear skirts or dresses, like my mother always told me to do. But mother isn't around anymore. Not since those many years ago. But I won't go into detail about that.

I wonder why father applied me to this school in the first place.

Probably because it's known for it's excellent soccer team. I've always been a soccer person. I was the best on my last team, so he probably thought it would be a good idea to be on this school's team.

All I hope for is to not be caught. I really, really don't feel like getting in trouble.

Why oh why couldn't father apply me to the girls boarding school across the lake!? I'm so close, yet so far away from being with all of my friends, or at least potential friends... there! Sure, I'm popular with the guys, but it's so much easier for me to be able to talk to girlfriends about things, y'know?

But no... father had to have it be the boys boarding school.

At least there are a small few of girls here at this school. Some are teachers, and then of course there is Mrs. Asai, whom otherwise is known as 'House Mother.' She's really, very nice to everyone. She's perfect for her job.

"Just one more day..."

--

"Room 57B, room 57B," I repeated to myself over and over again, looking down at a piece of paper in my hand with the words 'Room 57B' scribbled on it, then back up from door to door. Finally, I found the correct door. I pulled out the key from my pocket, sticking it into the keyhole and unlocking the door. To my surprise, my roommate wasn't already in there. I let out a loud sigh of relief. At least I'd have a little bit of time to myself before everything happened.

I dropped my bag to the floor, shutting the door behind me, then falling back first on one of the two beds arranged on either side of the room. How comfy... I'd love to just lye here all day, but I have to take a tour of the school so I know where all my classes are, meet all the teachers, and meet some of the other guys here.

Let's just hope I don't blow it on my first day...

Hearing the door handle turn, I quickly sat up, looking to the door as it opened. Stepping in was a slightly tall, short raven-haired brown-eyed boy with a bag under his arm, dressed in a simple outfit of dark blue denim pants and a white short-sleeved tee.

"Hey," he greeted with a smile, setting his bag on the other bed. "You must be Aki Ebisawa, right? My name is Hiroshi Tatsuko, otherwise known as Hiro."

"Yeah," I nodded to him. "I'm Aki." Taking a closer look at his shirt, I noticed a gold pin of a soccer ball on it. So he's joining soccer too, eh? "Are you going out for the soccer team?" I questioned.

"Yep. That's the whole reason I'm here, really," Hiro replied to me with a nod.

"That's pretty much the same for me. Hope you make the cut."

"You too," he gave me a thumbs up, then turned and walked out of the room, probably to take a tour himself of the school like I should be doing.

"Just a little while longer..." I sighed, falling to my back again on the bed, turning to get comfortable and closing my eyes, thinking about random things floating about my mind.

--

I woke up to find the room empty. I rubbed my eyes, sitting up and taking a look around the room from the bed. Spotting the clock, I decide to check the time.

"Seven fourty-five!?" I shout in disbelief. I only have fifteen minutes until we have to be in our rooms. I'll never be able to take a complete tour of the building. It's so big! Rubbing my temples in frustration, I pull out the piece of paper from earlier and flip it over. Looking down the list, I check the room numbers and classes.

"Dormitories are all in B. Academics are in A. Allied Arts classes are in C. P.E. is D. All offices are E. And the cafeteria eating spots are throughout the building marked as F. Everything is all in certain wings of the building, except for F. B is in the west wing. A is in the north wing. C is in the east wing. D is in the south wing. And E is in the center wing. Right?"

"That's right. Good job Aki."

"Ahh!" I jump up suprised by Hiro.

"Sorry I scared you," he apologized.

"N-not to worry," I dismiss it with one hand, holding my chest with the other. "When did you get back here?"

"When you started reciting which groups were in which wings."

"And you said I got them correct, right?"

"Yep. Got it perfectly. And," he started, "each wing has at least two to three floors, except for the center wing," he finished, taking a seat on the other bed, pulling off his shoes. "Plus, at one o' clock in the afternoon, there is a free hour and everyone gets to do whatever they want, as long as they don't leave the campus," he added. "Classes then resume for two more hours, then free time, dinner, free time again, and finally lock down when everyone has to go to bed."

"You sure learned a lot about this school in one day," I sweatdropped slightly, etching everything in my mind so I wouldn't forget. The gods know that hell would break loose if I forgot it all.

"Gotta. Who knows what would happen if I didn't or if I forgot everything, right?" Hiro chuckled lightly, standing up, pulling his bag with him over to one of the two dressers, pulling out random clothes and of course, as I call it, the 'almighty uniform' of school, then sticking them into the dressers. He seems to be quite the organized one.

Sighing, I picked up my bag as well, going over to the other dressers and putting all my clothes away. Pulling out a pair of comfy pajamas, I headed towards the bathroom, shutting the door behind me and locking it. Never know, right? After closing and locking the bathroom door, I pulled off my clothes, dropping them to the ground. Need to change these wraps... I sigh once again, unwrapping the white wraps around my chest and throwing them in the trash.

I turn on the water, letting the tub fill up. I always take a bath, never a shower. Turning the knobs off, I slide into the water. So inviting... relaxing... I sink under the water, lettingit wash alway all this stress. Stress... this is the first time I've ever really felt stressful. And how such a simple thing as a bath can wash it all away. At least for right now it is.

--

Stepping out of the bath, I grab the nearest towel and wrap it around my waist. I shake some of the water from my hair, then smooth my hair down. A hair dryer would work better... I look around, then find it in the cabinet under the sink and plug it in, drying it over my hair. Once I had this finished and my hair brushed through, I pull out wraps from the medicine cabinet. Ahh how I thank the custodians or whoever put these in here. I forgot mine in my dresser. I cut of the needed amount, then begin wrapping my chest down once more. What a pain...

A knock at the door brings me out of my thoughts, almost making me fall over. "You almost done in there?" Hiro's muffled voice comes from the other side of the door.

"Hold on," I reply, quickly wrapping the rest of the wrap, then pulling my clothes on and throwing the dirty ones in the hamper. Note to self. Make sure I don't lose those in everyone else's clothes. I open the door, brushing past Hiro, jumping onto the bed. Ahh bliss. I love these beds. These are a lot better than my one at home.

Better get a good night's sleep. Tomorrow is going to be a long day...

The characters I drew for this already or only headshots and they kinda .:: coughsuckcough ::. in my opinon. So I'm going to re-draw them and make an actual cover and put TIME AND EFFORT into my drawings. I usually just scribble crap down in less than an hour or at least a day. I'm going to try to maybe even get a week or GOOD work done on my stuff.
